What We Believe Concerning Salvation and Growth:
Our firm conviction is that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
(Rom. 3:23)
and that eternal salvation is by faith alone, in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9).
We believe that true spiritual growth is the result of the work of the Holy Spirit
taking the Word of God and changing us from within
(Rom.12:2; Eph. 6:17; 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
Our Service:
Our services emphasize expository teaching of the Bible. We strive to be both relaxed and respectful in our services.
Good manners, academic discipline, and respect for the Lord, His Word, and for fellow believers are expected.
This means distractions, such as talking or unnecessary movements during service, are to be avoided.
Doctrinal Statement
The Bible (Bibliology)
We believe that
1. The Bible, which comprises the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments,
is the verbally and wholly inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original documents.
2. The Bible is the final authority in all matters of our faith and practices.
3. The apocryphal books are not canonical.
Hermeneutics
We believe that
1. The Bible is to be interpreted normally; that is, it is to be taken literally when
possible and figuratively when necessary.
2. When a passage in the Bible is figurative, the underlying meaning of the
figure is literal.
Dispensations
We believe that
1. God has administered, does administer, and will continue to administer His
purpose on the earth through various economies, or dispensations.
2. There are at least four chronologically successive dispensations revealed in
the Bible, namely
a. The dispensation of the Gentiles
b. The dispensation of the Jews
c. The present dispensation of the Church
d. The future dispensation of the Millennial Kingdom
Doctrine
We believe that
1. There is value in collecting, organizing, and cataloging Bible doctrine.
2. Bible doctrine represents God’s viewpoint.
3. Doctrine is “something that is taught,” being propositional and conveying
objective meaning.
4. Doctrine is to be made clear in Bible passages as they are taught.
5. Each doctrine should be correlated with all other Bible doctrines.
The Triune God (Trinitarianism and Theology Proper)
We believe that
1. There is one God existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. The Three are eternal in being, identical in nature and attributes, and equal
in power and glory.
God the Father (Patrology)
We believe that
1. God the Father plans, supervises, and works all things after the counsel of
His will.
2. He is the source of the believer's provision.
God The Son (Christology)
We believe that
1. The Son became true man without ceasing to be true God.
2. In the Son’s Incarnation perfect humanity and undiminished deity were
united in one Person forever, without confusion of the divine and human
natures.
3. In the Son’s Incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of
the Virgin Mary.
4. The Son was called Jesus Christ, was crucified as a substitutionary
sacrifice, was buried, was physically resurrected from the dead, and was
seen alive by many.
5. The Son physically ascended from the earth.
6. The Son now sits in His glorified body at the right hand of the Father as
Intercessor, Advocate, and High Priest for His people.
God The Holy Spirit (Pneumatology)
We believe that
1. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
2. The Holy Spirit regenerates those who accept His witness and, at their
salvation, He
a. Baptizes them into the body of Christ
b. Permanently indwells them and seals them to the day of redemption
c. Sanctifies, comforts, encourages, and leads them through life
d. Fills them when they are without unconfessed sin in their lives
e. Gives at least one spiritual gift as a manifestation of the Spirit and for
the common good and edification of the Church.
3. The gifts of tongues, interpretation of tongues, miracles, healing,
apostleship, and prophecy (in the sense of receiving new revelation) ended
in the first century A.D., but God Himself still heals sicknesses and performs
miracles in accordance with His own sovereign will and the prayers of His
children.
Angels (Angelology, Satanology, and Demonology)
We believe that
1. The angels are beings created by God.
2. The angels have been, since the fall of Satan, divided into two categories—
unfallen and fallen.
3. Satan is a real being and is leader of the fallen angels.
4. A great conflict presently rages between the fallen angels, led by Satan,
and the unfallen angels, led by Michael the Archangel. The knowledge of
this conflict serves as a necessary interpretive key to the Bible and human
history.
5. Angels do not procreate.
6. Humans do not become angels.
7. No angel was ever a human.
Man (Anthropology)
We believe that
1. Adam and Eve were actual historical figures.
2. Man was created sinless, in the image and likeness of God.
3. Through Adam's sin, the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and
became alienated from God, receiving the just condemnation of physical
and spiritual deaths in time, and eternal separation from God in eternity.
4. Man remains totally unable to save himself from this condemnation, apart
from the saving work of God Himself through Christ’s death on the cross
and His resurrection from the grave.
Sin (Hamartology)
We believe that man is under the triple curse of
1. Imputed sin—the judicial share in responsibility for Adam's original sin
2. Inherent sin—the inherent capacity and desire to sin
3. Personal sin—volitional decisions to commit acts of sin
Salvation (Soteriology)
We believe that
1. The substitutionary work of Christ is unlimited in scope, sufficient for all but
efficient to only those who believe.
2. Every individual is free to accept or reject Christ’s work on his or her behalf.
3. Salvation is obtained solely and simply by accepting, by faith, the work of
Christ on one’s behalf.
4. Salvation can never be lost.
The Church (Ecclesiology)
We believe that
1. The Universal Church is a spiritual organism consisting of all born-again
believers in the Lord Jesus Christ in the dispensation of the Church.
2. Each local church is a visible, partial manifestation of the Universal Church.
3. It is the responsibility of the local church to devote itself to biblical teaching,
to fellowship, to prayer, to the exercise of spiritual gifts, and to the
observance of the ordinances of Baptism by immersion and Communion.
4. The Church neither supplants national Israel nor spiritually inherits the
earthly promises that God made to that nation.
Prophecy (Eschatology)
We believe that
1. No prophetic events are left to occur before the return of Jesus Christ.
2. The return of Jesus Christ will occur in a personal, bodily manner,
pretribulational, as He arrives in the air to receive His Church to Himself—
namely, all who have believed in Him since the Pentecost following His
ascension.
3. Those who have died in Christ before this event, the Rapture, will be
resurrected, and both theirs and living believers’ bodies will be changed into
“imperishable” bodies.
4. Lord Jesus and his saints will physically return to the earth for the second
time at the end of the Tribulation to establish His Millennial kingdom in
Jerusalem over all the earth.
5. At that time, all the nations of the earth will be subject to Jesus Christ’s
government in national Israel as the head of the nations, and there will be
universal, worldwide peace.
6. Afterwards, in the eternal state, those from all ages who have trusted Christ
as personal Savior will live bodily in complete happiness with Him forever
and ever.
7. Likewise, those who have not trusted Christ as personal Savior will exist
bodily in conscious punishment in the Lake of Fire forever and ever.
The Christian Life
We believe that
1. All Christians are called to conduct their lives in godliness Christians are
saved for the purpose of performing good works.
2. The Adamic nature is not eradicated in this life, and, therefore, Christians
are called to live by the power of the Holy Spirit so as not to fulfill the
desires of the Adamic nature.
3. The conduct of Christians should be characterized by love for God and love
for their neighbors, especially for fellow Christians.
4. For believers, forgiveness and restoration of fellowship with God is based
on the sacrifice of Christ and conditional merely on confession before God
of the offending sin.
5. The persistence in a sin can lead to divine discipline.
6. In addition to the freely bestowed benefits of salvation, believers can earn
eternal rewards by fulfilling God’s plan for their lives.
7. A believer’s deeds that are unworthy of the Lord will result in loss of
rewards for the believer but not in loss of salvation.
8. It is the Christian’s privilege and duty to participate in the Great
Commission to spread the gospel, making disciples of every nation,
baptizing them, and teaching them what Christ taught, both Christ Himself
and through His apostles.
